The apartment
We designed the apartment so that everyone feels at home straight away. It sits between the dunes of Bloemendaal and the historic centre of Haarlem, and gives you the holiday feeling with all the comforts of home.
Downstairs is one open space: a long kitchen counter, a dining table and a sitting area under a large print of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. The kitchen is fully equipped, so cooking your own dinner is as easy as at home.
A spiral staircase takes you up to the bedroom under the eaves, with a big boxspring, large windows and air conditioning. The sofa in the living room folds out into a bed for a third guest.
A tiled bathroom with a rain shower and fresh towels, and a second toilet upstairs, so nobody has to wait their turn in the morning.
The area
Inn Overveen is a perfect base for the most lively and beautiful part of the Netherlands. The country is small: everything below is a short bike ride or train journey away.
One of Holland's best kept secrets and one of its oldest cities, with much of its historic architecture intact. Restaurants, bars, hofjes and the Grote Markt.
Getting there 10 minutes by bike or a 20 minute walk to the market square.
Canals, houseboats and the Dutch masters in the Rijksmuseum. Spend the day in the capital and be back in the quiet of Overveen in the evening.
Getting there Direct Sprinter from Overveen station to Amsterdam Centraal, twice an hour, about 25 minutes.
Much of the country lies below sea level; the dunes are what keep it dry. National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is full of wildlife and wide views, with the beach of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort behind it.
Getting there 15 minutes by bike to the dunes, about 20 to the beach. Trains to Zandvoort aan Zee also stop at Overveen.
Overveen is surrounded by historic country estates with gardens and woods that are open to walkers. Elswout is the closest.

Coming for a race weekend? The Zandvoort race track is about 20 minutes away, and the train to Zandvoort aan Zee stops at Overveen.
A 25 minute taxi ride, or by train with one change at Amsterdam Sloterdijk.

Train: buy a ticket to Overveen. Take the train towards Amsterdam Centraal and get off at Amsterdam Sloterdijk (about 10 minutes). There, take the Sprinter towards Zandvoort aan Zee and get off at Overveen (about 20 minutes).

Less than a 10 minute walk. Walk past the station restaurant to the road and turn right, towards the Albert Heijn. Cross the railway and keep going straight until you reach restaurant Loetje. With your back to Loetje you look straight into the Zijlweg. Our house is number 304, to the left of number 308 (Gottmer Uitgevers Groep).
